Working opportunities while studying at university

The biggest challenge faced by undergraduate or graduate students is financing their education and living expenses. In this case, as the solution of international students who graduate or PhD in Turkey, to finance their graduate studies can work as researchers in scientific projects related to the work. Some private universities accept undergraduate or graduate students with full scholarship and can provide assistantships to students in return for this scholarship and will often find opportunities to work part-time at universities.

Students who have the idea of working in their education life should know that the student residence permit they receive does not include a work permit. Students who want to work need to obtain a work permit firstly. There are different kind of work permits such as short-term, continuous, independent work which all are granted by the General Directorate of International Labor. This right has been allocated to international students by Turkish State. Some of the international students coming to study in Turkey are located in private companies as an interpreter. According to the departments some private companies offer opportunities to work in a way that does not harm students’ education.

Internship opportunities

According to student’s department and university, students can do compulsury or optional internship. Internship activities seen in some undergraduate programs are usually held in the summer period. In this case, there is no need to have a work permit, you will have the opportunity to do internships in international organizations or NGOs under the guidance of your universities. Compensation may vary depending on the institution where you are interned.

In addition, during or immediately after graduating learning you may be able to do an internship 2-12 months as part of a European country that is open to participants from all over the world Erasmus + program in Turkey. For this, do not forget to be in close contact with the International Office of your University!
